Trip Schedule
Below we have our “The New Carian Trail” walking holiday itinerary. However, if you would like to create a specially tailored trip in Turkey, then contact us today.
Arrive Milas – Bodrum Airport we pick you up and organise your transfer to Akbuk (White Bay) a beautiful, unspoilt village on the coast you will stay at a Pension near the beach.
16 kms, allow 7 hours
From the coast through countryside followed by spectacular views and a long descent down to the coastal settlement of Oren. There is a small shop in the village of Alatepe on the route selling cold drinks, ice cream & other refreshments.
15 kms, allow 6.5 hours
The section between Oren and Turkevleri follows the road and we therefore recommend taking the local dolmus (bus) to skip this section and start your walk from Turkevleri. If starting from Oren then add a further 2.5 hours to the hike. The route begins with a long ascent along mountain ridges with fantastic views across the bay and surrounding countryside before heading through valleys across to Bozalan . There are no refreshment stops enroute and Bozalan itself only has a small teahouse. Transfer to Oren for your accommodation.
After breakfast transfer to Bozalan hike to Cakilliyali – 16 kms, allow 7 hours
Some valley and forest trail down to coastal path with beautiful, deserted coves. There is a small shop enroute in the village of Gokbel selling refreshments.
Walk from Cakilliyali to Yali Ciflik – 21 kms, allow 8.5 hours
A long but very rewarding hiking day with no refreshment stops enroute. Deserted bays and natural pebble beaches, clear turquoise waters with a few small fishing boats. Climbing through olives groves and terraces with fantastic coastal scenery.
Walk from Ciflik to Bodrum 22 kms, allow 8.5 hours
There are shops approximately half way on the route, in the village of Kizilagac. A hike with ancient ruins and domed cisterns, hill and forest paths through the countryside before finally reaching the end of your route in the tourist hotspot of Bodrum. This ancient city previously known as “Halicarnassos” still manages to maintain much traditional character, especially when walking out of high season and less tourists are in town. There is plenty here to explore if you have the time and we are happy to offer advice and make some recommendations.
Transfer from your accommodation in Bodrum to the airport to return home
