Spring on the Lycian Way
Spring walk with our guest on The lycian Way
Spring is here and it’s a wonderful time to walk on the Lycian Way route. I decided to take a day off and join a guest, Mr Ray Perry, staying at our guest house accommodation, Meyveliev, and walk from Cavdir to Uzumlu, near Kalkan.
Ray has his own blog about his adventures in Turkey which he is going to update soon when he returns to the United States. The route mainly follows an ancient Aquaduct that runs along the hillside above the fertile valley floor. It’s a very pretty section and one that we include for guests on our option 1 Lycian Way itinerary.
The walk took us a little under 5 hours including a stop for lunch, regular photo stops and conversations with a few fellow hikers on the route.
We took a short detour to the mouth of the springs that supply the water for the local villages and continued on the Lycian Way route through pine forest and down to the pretty village of Uzumlu (‘Uzum’ is ‘grape’ in Turkish) where we got a lift to Kalkan and enjoyed a cold beer at a restaurant overlooking the pretty harbour.
Hope you enjoy the pictures, it was a lovely warm spring day, very pretty section of The Lycian Way route and Ray was great company.
